Tavistock Museum is delighted to announce significant improvements in the ways in which our visitors can access our collections.
Our newly installed stairlift, made possible by a Community Resilience Grant from the Rural England Prosperity Fund, fulfils a long-held wish by our Trustees and Volunteers to improve our accessibility, especially for our patrons with mobility or other impairments who are currently unable to access the upper floors.
All Things Dotty is currently making information independently readable for our visually impaired (VI) visitors. We are the first museum in the country to work with Brandon on improving accessibility and inclusion for our VI visitors.
Room guides in Braille are also due in soon and tactile images of some of the museum’s objects are gradually appearing in the museum.
We can also now offer an audio guide, direct to your smart phone, at no cost to the individual.
These have been funded by our TTC Community Grant.
And, finally, Little Bird Creative has supported the museum by adding subtitles to many of the information videos that our patrons can sit and watch, also thanks to our Community Resilience Grant.
